Job Description

The successful candidate for this position will be a 1099 contractor with Music Ministry International and be responsible for the following:

Description of Work.

1.1. This is a non-personal services contract for one (1) Worship leader for the Protestant Worship at Mountain Home Air Force Base (MHAFB), Idaho. The Director shall serve as a resource person, advisor, and coordinator for Protestant worship service music within the MHAFB chapel. The Worship leader consults and coordinates with the chapel assigned Chaplain Sponsor assigned by the Wing Chaplain. Wing Chaplain or designee monitors the Worship leader.

1.2. Contract Changes/Additional Work. At future dates, the government reserves the right to incorporate, add, remove, and/or modify quantities of work within the scope of this requirement.

At times, due to the nature of work, it may be necessary to modify this requirement on an as needed basis. Additionally, there may be a need for ‘one-time’ requirements or special subcontracting opportunities in order to fulfill the requirement needs. Any future changes to this requirement will be negotiated and incorporated in the contact via contract modification, whether by negotiation, or based on priced line items currently incorporated within the contract.

2. REQUIREMENTS EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

2.1. The Worship leader shall furnish a resume, to include verifiable academic, work/volunteer related references, and a minimum of one (1) year experience and comprehensive knowledge leading Protestant worship service contemporary, gospel, and liturgical setting.

2.2. The Worship leader shall provide proven ability, of the ability to sight read music, sing, and play an instrument compatible with Protestant worship contemporary, liturgical and/or gospel traditions and guidelines.

2.3. The Worship leader shall provide evidence of a minimum one (1) year of experience and comprehensive knowledge in the ability to sing with and play with the following musical instruments: piano, keyboard, organ, or guitar. Shall also be able to, coordinate, select music, direct, and lead congregational singing. Must be able to communicate effectively and clearly in spoken and written English.

2.4. The Worship leader shall have residence within a 75-mile radius of Mountain Home AFB.

3. ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS

3.1. The Worship leader shall have the ability to work unsupervised in professionally in a pluralistic environment with staff, parents, and children. Shall maintain a professional working relationship with the chapel staff, congregation, and other personnel to achieve duties as necessary with a positive attitude, good time management skills and be self-directed. The Worship leader will maintain professional standards of conduct and public decorum to include a neat, clean, and well-groomed appearance. In consultation with the Chaplain Sponsor, business casual attire is required when performing duties.

3.2. The Worship leader shall communicate effectively in English (both oral and written) and efficiently organize and manage diverse program elements.

3.3. The Worship leader shall be willing to work within a community of diverse faith expressions, supporting a religiously pluralistic environment.

3.4. Read and sign chapel facility usage, security, key control, and safety letter. After each usage of facilities, must ensure all instruments, music, microphones, music stands, chairs, cords, etc. are returned to their proper places and ensure that the chapel facility is neat and clean and returned to its neutral setting as determined by chapel staff. Ensures that lights are turned off and all doors are secured when no other personnel are present.

3.5. Have a working knowledge of Personal Computer (PC) compatible hardware and software (especially Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, and PowerPoint). Applicant must adhere to computer security requirements and usage. Applicant must comply with copyright license reporting and copyright license identification procedures.

4. WORK SCHEDULES

4.1. The Worship leader shall plan, prepare, perform, and rehearse at minimum one rehearsal (one hour minimum) and attend all Protestant Worship Services which includes two (2) worship services and occasional special services. The hours worked shall not exceed ten (10) hours per week. The worship leader shall submit a proposed work schedule for the period of one month no later than the 1st of each month for the Chaplain Sponsor’s review and approval or disapproval.

4.2. The Worship leader is required to give the chapel a two-week notice of any extended period of absence. Extended period of absence is defined as an absence for more than three days. The worship leader will provide a qualified substitute that meets all contract requirements to perform services during the absence subject to the Wing Chaplain approval. The Worship leader must submit the request 14 calendar days prior to the absence.
