Job Description
The Pre-Apprenticeship Instructor will be responsible for classroom and lab instruction in the Clean Energy Pre-Apprenticeship Trade Program. The Instructor will follow and adapt the MC3 NABTU curriculum outline and create supplemental experiential learning and on the job training experiences to reinforce learning for students. Instructors will work with high school students and staff and work to transition students into trade occupations upon completion of the program.
Responsibilities & Essential Functions:
Curriculum Development
- Responsible for implementing and adapting all technical aspects of the program curriculum at local high schools with high school seniors.
- Prepare materials needed for course instruction, labs, and testing.
- Provide basic construction lab maintenance and track inventory of equipment and tools utilized.
- Relate instruction and material to course objectives.
- Discuss and demonstrate workplace safety, personal safety and power/hand tool safety.
- Collaborate with other Instructors to ensure quality of training across all training sites.
Participant Management
- Recruit students for the program in conjunction with teachers and school support staff.
- Assess, evaluate, and select students for the program.
- Communicate effectively and efficiently with students and other staff.
Community Partnerships
* Work with local trade partners to facilitate guest speakers and field trips for students.
Administrative
- Submit grades, attendance, reports and records in a timely manner.
- Work with case management staff on identifying challenges and barriers to student success and help develop a plan with the student to succeed.

Qualifications & Basic Job Requirements:
- A combination of education and relevant work experience that aligns with the duties of this position.
- Teaching experience or Journeyman/Master license or Journeyman level of knowledge preferred.
- Foreman, Crew Lead, or supervisory experience preferred.
- Functional use of Microsoft and Google applications such as Word, Excel, and Outlook and ability to learn new systems and databases.
- Ability to motivate and assist individuals in performing work.
- Must be a team player and detail oriented.
- Experience coaching, mentoring, or training.
- Ability to travel to locations within Goodwill’s territory on a regular schedule. Driver’s license and proof of auto insurance required.
Sensory and Physical Requirements:
- Ability to efficiently and effectively perform all functions of the job
- Ability to stand for 4-6 hours per shift.
- Ability to lift 15-25 pounds.
Environment:
The work is conducted primarily in the Goodwill Administration and Mission offices with travel to and from community partners and trade training center locations. This position also requires visits to construction sites where conditions may be dusty/dirty and subject to varying temperatures. Work is primarily during daytime and afternoon hours with some evening and weekend hours.
Compensation: $22 - $26/hour
