Creates a calm and healing environment of care through the use of live, acoustic music in various clinical environments using the inherent healing elements of music and sound to enhance the environment for patients at NGMC. Provides Live Therapeutic Music (LTM) to help comfort/stabilize patients exhibiting various symptoms of pain, anxiety, agitation, change in condition or transitioning. Must be professional, proactive, collaborative, conscientious, and results-oriented. Minimum Job Qualifications include certification by a National Standards Board for Therapeutic Musicians accredited certification program, High School Diploma or GED, and proficiency in at least one musical instrument. Preferred qualifications include one year experience providing LTM for patients in hospital/hospice settings. The role requires musical proficiency, knowledge of appropriate music types for patient conditions, familiarity with clinical deportment issues, and ability to play/sing music at the bedside or other clinical environments. Responsibilities include providing own instrument, transporting and setting up equipment, communicating with patients and medical personnel, documenting patient sessions in electronic health records, reporting changes in patient condition, maintaining program statistics, assisting with special events, and working independently with patients and families. Physical demands include lifting up to 20 lbs frequently, standing/walking frequently, and ability to play four hours per work day without discomfort. The position requires excellent communication skills, adaptability, good judgment, and a positive demeanor.
