As a member of the project leadership team, the Design Manager (DM) is responsible for the timely development of the project design and its alignment with the project execution plan. The Design Manager establishes and manages processes on their projects to build and maintain alignment between the design and project objectives including client expectations, scope of work packaging, delivery methods, cost budget, sequence of work, quality expectations, and planned schedule. Key responsibilities include leading and managing successful competitive Design-Build pursuits, facilitating design team selections and negotiations, reviewing and validating A/E scopes, integrating Self-Perform Work, Digital Building Components, Prefabrication, and other DPR services into the design and fabrication model, facilitating a culture of trust with the design team, supporting High Performing Team workshops, organizing cluster group formation strategies, managing design scope contract risk, evaluating and integrating all stakeholder design responsibilities, steering design to meet client expectations, coordinating with the DPR team, supporting design-to-build integration, encouraging value enhancing design iteration, managing design scope creep, managing design validation to budget, working with Authorities Having Jurisdiction for permit submittal review, leading Milestone Alignment Planning workshops, scheduling and leading Design Quality & Constructability Reviews, managing internal bulletin review processes, developing design change decision-making and change management processes, and implementing DPR’s Design Acceptance Criteria process. Experience required includes successful experience in CMAR, Design/Build, and IPD delivery systems, leadership and management skills, multi-disciplinary fluency in architectural design, engineering, pre-construction and construction processes, ability to influence contractual differences and risks, and adeptness at creative problem-solving of design issues.
