About the Role:

The Custodian plays a vital role in maintaining a clean, safe, and orderly environment within the facility. This position ensures that all janitorial duties are performed efficiently and to a high standard, contributing to the overall well-being and satisfaction of building occupants. The Custodian will lead by example, coordinating with team members to complete tasks such as cleaning, maintenance, and safety inspections. Attention to detail and adherence to safety protocols are essential to prevent hazards and maintain compliance with regulations. Ultimately, the Custodian supports the smooth operation of the facility by creating a welcoming and hygienic atmosphere for all users.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Prior experience in janitorial or custodial work with demonstrated ability to perform cleaning and maintenance tasks.
  • Ability to follow oral and written instructions accurately and consistently.
  • Basic math skills including addition and subtraction of two-digit numbers.
  • Physical capability to perform repetitive motions and reach with hands and arms as required by the job.
  • Knowledge of safety rules and procedures relevant to custodial work.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience in a lead worker or supervisory role within a custodial or maintenance team.
  • Familiarity with balancing work schedules and managing supply inventories.
  • Certification or training in workplace safety or hazardous materials handling.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical documents or manuals related to cleaning equipment.
  • Strong communication skills to effectively coordinate with team members and facility management.
Responsibilities:
  • Perform routine cleaning tasks including sweeping, mopping, dusting, and trash removal to maintain cleanliness throughout the facility.
  • Lead and coordinate janitorial staff to ensure tasks are completed efficiently and according to schedule.
  • Read and interpret documents such as safety guidelines, cleaning instructions, and maintenance logs to ensure compliance with standards.
  • Follow oral and written instructions carefully to execute cleaning and maintenance procedures accurately.
  • Utilize balancing skills and physical dexterity to safely reach and clean high or difficult areas using appropriate equipment.
  • Conduct safety checks and report any hazards or maintenance issues promptly to prevent accidents.
  • Use basic arithmetic skills to manage supplies inventory and balance work orders or cleaning schedules.
