Job Description

Protea Engineering is seeking a Bridge Inspection Team Leader to join our team! With projects all over the country - ranging from minor culverts to large multi-span complex structures, you will learn and hone the skills to take your career to the next level and beyond.

Responsibilities

  • Managing inspection teams for Major and Minor bridges and culverts as well as ancillary structures
  • Leading teams in the field to complete routine, NSTM, and other inspection types
  • Preparing detailed, professional inspection reports including structure inventory data, inspection findings, photo log, and other supporting information.
  • Performing detailed, comprehensive QC reviews of inspection reports to meet the quality standards of Protea and our clients
  • Assisting in scheduling, planning, and tracking of inspection trips and the report processes
  • Opportunities to train new staff in inspections and reporting tasks
  • Opportunities to assist with preparing proposals, client management, project management, and marketing/networking tasks

Qualifications

Your Skills and Credentials

  • Experience with computer applications: Microsoft (Word, Excel, Teams, etc.) along with AutoCAD and/or MicroStation drafting, Bluebeam Revu
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills including professional, concise, technical writing
  • Ability to travel both in and out of State 1-2 weeks per month. Overnight travel is often required.
  • Works well in a team environment with safety, integrity, and a collaborative mindset at a high priority.
  • Ability to work and adapt to changing work environments and scopes
  • Must have a valid Driver's License

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Structural Engineering
  • 3-5 years of experience performing inspections of highway bridges and writing inspection reports including Specifications for the National Bridge Inventory (SNBI) and Manual for Bridge Element Inspection (MBEI) data
  • Completed and passed NHI Course 130055 - Safety Inspection of In-Service Bridges
  • Registered EIT or PE preferred
  • Experience with AASHTOWare Bridge Management (BrM) software and/or SIMSA to perform Element Level and SNBI inspections
  • Experience performing steel and concrete structure load ratings preferred

Pay Range: $49 - $75/hr.

The final agreed upon compensation is based on individual education, credentials, and qualifications.
